1.The weather is cold.天冷了。
众所周知，冬季很冷，冷到什么程度呢？除了“cold”，我们还可以怎样形容冷？请看下面的句子：
It’s quite/awfully/severely cold.天真冷/天太冷了/天气非常冷。
It is biting/bitterly cold.天冷得厉害。
It’s really piercing cold.天冷得刺骨。
It’s freezing cold.天寒地冻。
Notes: 一种表达方法是在cold前加上修饰语，表示冷的程度，上述的quite（相当），awfully（非常）, severely（严重地）, biting（刺痛的）, bitterly（残酷地）和freezing（冰冻的）都加深了冷的程度。所以，除了干干地说一句“cold”，我们还可以加上这些修饰语。

下面一组句子并没有使用cold, 而是用其他的单词或短语来表明天气严寒。看看哪一句适合你的城市吧！

Notes: 这些句子中都没有”cold”一词，但说起来更加生动，描述性增强。我们可以根据实际天气情况选择这些表达方法。

例: We have to cool the soup down to make the dish.

例: She was shivering like a leaf sitting there.
她坐在那抖得像风中的树叶。
A shiver of joy passed through her stomach when she heard the news.听到这个消息，一种愉快的战栗传到她的胃里。
goose bumps鸡皮疙瘩
frostbitten冻伤的，使冻伤
例：His frostbitten fingers look quite scary.
他冻伤的手指看着很吓人。
3. How do we conquer the coldness?我们如何战胜寒冷？
战胜寒冷的第一法宝自然是多穿点。
例: She bundled up.
她穿得暖暖的。
Notes: bundle up 原意是“捆扎…”，在这里是“穿暖”的意思，用衣服把自己裹起来可不就是穿暖吗？例句：
We need to bundle up against the cold.我们必须穿得暖暖的去抵御寒冷。
第二个法宝就是多运动。冬天一下雪，我们就可以堆雪人，打雪仗啦！
